Health Update: Sweet veg
Your support helps us to tell the story
My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.
Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.
Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

PEAS and sweetcorn are children's favourite vegetables probably because they contain relatively high amounts of sugar, research from Australia has indicated. A study of 600 children found that tomatoes, mushrooms and broccoli are quite popular, but cauliflower and sprouts come bottom of the list, says a report in New Scientist. The researchers, from the University of Western Sydney, also suggest that children head for salty snacks and sweets to compensate for an immature taste mechanism: the flavours they experience may be more bland than those tasted by adults.
