Nando's meals 'can be higher in calories and sugar than KFC'
A Nando's chicken wrap and a KFC Toasted Twister have been compared in a new documentary
Diners who head to Nando’s instead of a deep-fried chicken shop could be unwittingly eating a less healthy meal, a new documentary reportedly claims.
Some meals served at the Portuguese-themed restaurant contain more calories and sugar than food at KFC, The Tricks of the Restaurant Trade programme has alleged.
The show, which airs on Channel 4 on Tuesday evening, reveals that a KFC Toasted Twister wrap contains 480 calories and 4.7g of sugar, compared with 594 calories and 16.2g sugar in the Nandos chicken wrap, Mail Online reported.
However, the Nando’s chicken wrap contained slightly less salt.
Chips were also higher in calories, at 546 and 310 in Nando’s and KFC, respectively.
The programme also highlighted a difference in price despite chickens being brought from the same firm: with fries and a wrap costing £4.59 at KFC, and an equivalent meal priced at £8.45 in Nando’s.

The Independent has contacted Nando’s for a comment. The restaurant told The Mirror: "All our chicken is British, meets Red Tractor standards, and is grilled, never fried. Nutritional information for all our meals can be found on our website."
