Kamala Harris' niece shares videos of vice president's great-nieces playing in the White House

Videos of Vice President Kamala Harris’ great-nieces are going viral, after their mother captured the children exploring the White House on Inauguration Day.

On Wednesday, after Ms Harris was sworn in, she was accompanied to the White House by her extended family, including her niece Meena Harris, and her two great-nieces, Amara, four, and Leela, two, who wore matching faux fur leopard coats.

Meena captured her children’s excitement over the trip on Instagram, where she posted a photo of the vice president holding hands with Amara, as well as videos of the young girls playing in the White House.

“Visiting Auntie at her new job,” the New York Times best-selling children’s book author captioned the post, which includes footage of the children running up and down the halls of Joe Biden’s new home and hiding under the tables.

On her Instagram Stories, Meena shared additional videos of her daughter's joy at visiting the White House, with one video showing her ask Amara: “Where are we going?” to which her daughter replies: “To the White House!”

The vice president’s niece also joked that it was difficult to remove her children from the mansion, captioning one video showing Leela running: “Rumour has it she’s still roaming the halls as we speak.”

On Instagram, and TikTok, where the clip has been viewed more than 1.4m times, viewers expressed happiness over the children’s reactions.

“This is everything my soul needed today,” one person commented.

Another said: “This is everything! Thank you for sharing your Auntie and family with us! We are blessed and incredibly thankful to have you all.”

“This is absolutely precious,” someone else wrote.

While the vice president’s great-nieces enjoyed visiting her, Amara also had another idol she wanted to meet, according to Meena, who revealed earlier in the day that her daughter had asked her “every five minutes throughout the entire ceremony if she could meet Hillary Clinton”.

Meena shared her daughter’s request alongside a photo of the four-year-old standing next to the former first lady, with Ms Clinton later sharing the picture on her own Twitter and adding: “A highlight of an already very good day.”
