(Jaguar)

A car for the head

Pre-registering cars means that a dealer can usually take advantage of a manufacturer bonus. You can always rely on Jaguar to deliver value, and you’ll find the list price for an XE, starting at £29,295, is easy to beat this way. An R Sport 2.0 diesel is £32,795, but in reality as a pre-registered example at a main agent with black pack details it can be found for £25,990. Of course the bigger the Jaguar, the bigger the savings, so let’s trade up to an XF. Again an R-Sport is (list) £34,390. Yet a main agent had a 2016 registered example, which can be Mike’s for £27,590 with manufacturer’s warranty, of course.

(Alfa Romeo (Alfa Romeo)

A car for the heart

Alfa Romeo make great looking cars, but over the years these have needed all the pre-registration help that they can get. There are lots to choose from in the classified ads, but a Giulia 2.2 JTD Super is the one that Mike wants. How about one with just five miles at £24,995 – and it is a 180bhp version too which is usually £33,315. Keeping it Italian, there are slightly less spectacular savings on the Maserati Quattroporte Diesel which are just over £50,000 on list, but some dealers have them at just under £48,000 with only 20 miles on the clock.
