Nissan Teatro for Dayz: Concept takes Cube to a whole new level of Tonka toy styling
Even if it gets built, past experience suggests we’re unlikely to see it in the UK as anything other than a special import
Revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan’s Teatro for Dayz concept takes the company’s existing Cube to a whole new level of Tonka toy styling.
No information on either the drivetrain or the meaning of Teatro For Dayz has been made available, but Nissan describes it as an "indication of what people will expect of EVs in the future".
Even if it gets built, past experience suggests we’re unlikely to see it in the UK as anything other than a special import. Which is a bit of a shame as it has some fun stuff going on behind that bricklike exterior, designed (apparently) to evoke the minimalist appearance of modern technology.
Nissan calls the car's cabin a 'future canvas'. The dashboard, seats, door trim and instrument panel can all be configured to display photos and moving images. Traditional buttons have been thrown away and replaced by voice commands and gesture controls for most of the infotainment functions.
In motion, the digital instrument panel shows navigation information, but when you’re stopped – a not infrequent occurrence in urban Japan – that data is replaced by custom artwork and pictures.
