A company hired in January by the Tories, who then led Barnet council, to cut grass and maintain parks has gone into liquidation. This has left the Labour administration to clean up the mess.

'We now face a crisis, with waist-high grass and weeds and no immediate solution,' said the council leader, Alan Williams.
