Blogger shares honest video of postpartum body

A blogger and mother-of-four has shared a video of her postpartum body to remind other mothers that they are “not alone” and that they shouldn’t compare themselves to other mums they see on Instagram.

Anna Strode, from Melbourne, regularly shares updates of her pregnancies, her exercise routines, and her family life to her more than 139,000 Instagram followers.

But in a recent video, she decided to share “all the angles you don’t normally see on Instagram,” as she herself has felt “disheartened” by the “perfect shots” of mum-bloggers and Instagram models who have quickly regained their pre-pregnancy bodies.

“Instagram is full of all the ‘perfect shots’ that make it seem like every mama expect you has ‘bounced back’ after birth,” she wrote. “And while it can sometimes be motivating, it can also be very disheartening when you feel like you’re the only one that still looks six months pregnant.”

The 33-year-old then said that, although she feels “incredibly vulnerable” posting the video, she wants to show other mums that they are not the only ones who haven’t “bounced back” immediately after giving birth.

Strode concluded the post reminding her followers that it takes “NINE MONTHS for your body to grow a baby” and you need to give yourself “AT LEAST nine months to recover”.

The post, which has been viewed more than 80,000 times, has received hundreds of comments from other mums thanking Strode for the honesty.

“I cannot thank you enough for this,” one woman wrote. “I am struggling at eight months postpartum to not look like I’m still pregnant and only seeing other mommas who are back in pre-baby clothes by like eight weeks. I love this so much!”
