Harry and Meghan show baby Archie to the world for the first time

The Duchess of Cornwall has seen a photograph of her new grandchild for the first time.

During a walkabout in Leipzig, Germany on Wednesday, Camilla was shown a photograph of the newborn by a member of the public.

Looking at the photograph on a mobile phone, the duchess smiled and said: "Thank you for showing this to me.”

This afternoon, Buckingham Palace released the first photographs of the royal baby two days after he was born.

In the images, the newborn can be seen swaddled in a white blanket wearing a white hat.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Sussex poses in a white sleeveless tuxedo-style, double-breasted dress as her husband stands in a light grey suit.

Speaking in St George's Hall at Windsor Castle ahead of the photo's release, the Duke of Sussex held their two-day-old child as Meghan said: "It's magic, it's pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I'm really happy.

"He has the sweetest temperament, he's really calm."

As they both laughed, Harry said: "I don't know who he gets that from.”

Meghan added: "He's just been the dream so it's been a special couple of days."

When asked how he found parenting, Harry added: "It's great. Parenting is amazing. It's only been two and a half days, three days, but we're just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy."

The baby, whose name has not yet been announced, is seventh in line to the throne. He is the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh's eighth great-grandchild and the Prince of Wales's fourth grandchild.

When asked when the child will meet the Queen and Prince Philip, Meghan said: "We just bumped into the duke as we were walking by, which was so nice.

"So it'll be a nice moment to introduce the baby to more family, and my mum's with us as well."

Harry added: "Another great-grandchild."

On Wednesday, the Prince of Wales revealed her had not yet met the royal baby.

“We couldn’t be more delighted at the news and we’re looking forward to meeting the baby when we return,” Prince Charles said.
