Taylor Swift accused of copying Beyoncé's 'Party' music video

The song is from the singer's upcoming album Lover

People are accusing Taylor Swift of copying Beyoncé with the music video for her new single “You Need To Calm Down”.

On Monday, hours after Swift released the video, people began to point out similarities with Beyoncé’s "Party" video from 2011.

In both videos, the singers attend above-ground pool parties in trailer parks - a commonality that fans have captured on Twitter with side-by-side screenshots.

Fans have also suggested that the outfits worn by the singers in the videos are similar.

In the new video, Swift can be seen wearing a bikini top and a pink fur coat - a nod to Legally Blonde - while Beyoncé wore a bikini and a yellow fur coat in her music video.

“Is it just me or is Taylor Swift’s video a total rip-off of Beyoncé’s Party?” one person wrote on Twitter.

Another said: “If Taylor Swift wants people to stop accusing her of ripping off Beyoncé, maybe she should quit ripping off Beyoncé. Her whole ‘above-ground pool party in a trailer park’ vibe cribs a lot of shots from Bey’s ‘Party’ video.”

However, others have come to the 29-year-old's defence, with one person pointing out that Beyoncé "didn't invent pools".

This isn’t the first time Swift has been accused of copying Beyoncé - in May, the singer faced backlash following her performance of “ME!” at the Billboard Music Awards, which many thought was similar to Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella show.
