Airline rescues wedding by reuniting bridesmaid with ‘forgotten’ dress

Being a bridesmaid is no mean feat, but wearing a dress that has been chosen for you by the bride is arguably one of the simpler requirements. That is, so long as you remember to bring the dress to the wedding.

When one bridesmaid arrived for a wedding in Costa Rica, she realised she’d left her dress back in her hometown of Houston, Texas.

But not all was lost. Her friend Taylor Kenney tweeted the airline she’d flown with, Southwest Airlines, explaining the issue and asking if they might be able to put the dress out on the next flight to Costa Rica.

“@SouthwestAir help!!” she wrote. “My friend is in a wedding on Saturday in Costa Rica but she left her bridesmaid dress here in Houston! Can we get her dress on flight #1734 tomorrow??? #WorthATry #BestCustomerService”

To Kenney’s surprise, the airline responded: “Alright, let’s do it!”.

Several hours later, she tweeted a photograph of another friend, Rachel, dropping the red candy-striped dress off at William P. Hobby Airport, where a member of staff from Southwest Airlines was waiting, “ready for the hand off”.

The exchange between Kenney and the airline has since gone viral, garnering thousands of likes, retweets and enthusiastic comments praising Southwest Airlines and the resourcefulness of the bridesmaid’s friends.

“This is an A+ friend!” wrote one person. “Also, what an above and beyond thing, #SouthwestAirlines Kind acts touch the hearts of many.”

Another added: “Awesome use of social media! Way to go Taylor and Southwest!! @taylorkenney7 @SouthwestAir Have fun at the wedding!! Now all that you have to worry about it is making sure that your chicken dance is off the hook.”
