Outlook After a horrific summer that saw shareholders revolt over chief executive Bob Diamond's £17m pay package and the Libor rate-rigging scandal, Marcus Agius must be relieved today is his last as chairman of Barclays. For a start, he can roam Kew Gardens, where he is chairman of the trustees.

Shame, then, that he's also the senior independent director of the BBC. Out of the frying pan and all that…
