WEST Midlands Ambulance Service has introduced satellite monitoring to pinpoint its emergency vehicles, their direction and speed of travel. The system will automatically calculate response time to a particular incident for all available ambulances. At the moment, crews have to radio back their positions, a controller has to decide which vehicle to send and a separate dispatcher has to radio back the command.
