Innovation: Robocop
SCIENTISTS in Cambridge have invented an intelligent security camera that will track anyone behaving suspiciously, rather than passively recording people as they go past. The camera, called Yorick, can detect unexpected motion, such as someone running into a bank or out of a government office, because the criteria of expected motion is defined and discounted by the system's software. Yorick can also calculate how fast and in what direction the object is moving and can therefore keep the suspect directly in its sights.
