Bloomsbury is India bound
Harry Potter publisher Bloomsbury has launched its own imprint in India.
Chief executive Nigel Newton has high hopes for Bloomsbury India, saying the country has "probably more of the book-buying demographic than that of the UK, US and Canada combined".
Newton believes his existing stable of English and South Asian writers should go down well in India.
Bloomsbury's authors include Margaret Atwood, pictured, JK Rowling, Howard Jacobson, Heston Blumenthal, Orange Prize-shortlisted Kamila Shamsie and A Thousand Splendid Suns writer Khaled Hosseini.
One of the first books to be published by Bloomsbury in cricket-mad India will be the inaugural Wisden India Cricketers Almanac.
