Business News in Brief: Administrator seeks operator to run Pontin’s
Pontin’s, the holiday parks firm, has gone into administration it was announced on Friday evening.
Administrator KPMG said that the company’s five sites, which include Pakefield in Suffolk and Prestatyn Sands in northWales, will continue to run as normal and that no redundancies have been made so far. A leisure operator will be appointed to keep Pontin’s trading while a buyer is sought. It expects to honour all existing reservations
McCall to release her first easyJet figures
Carolyn McCall will preside over her first full-year results as chief executive of budget airline easyJet on Tuesday in a busy week for the City. Investors will be hoping that platinum giant Lonmin returns to profit tomorrow, while fellow FTSE mining behemoth BHP Billiton will face pressure at a shareholder meeting over its troubled $39bn takeover tilt at the Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan.
Contractors launch Big Society report
The UK Contractors Group (UKCG), which represents 30 of the biggest construction companies, will publish a report tomorrow into how the industry can support David Cameron's 'Big Society' initiative. The report will be distributed widely among politicians as part of a campaign backing public sector investment. Government spending cuts are badly hurting construction, a £100bn industry in the UK, and is thought to be a major reasons listed builder Rok went into administration last week.
