Cable & Wireless today revealed a surprise boost in its first-half profits, lifted by a focus on core internet services.

Cable & Wireless today revealed a surprise boost in its first-half profits, lifted by a focus on core internet services.

Profit before tax and exceptional items was £537 after a 15-per-cent increase in sales to £3.34 billion.

The company believes it has progressed well in its aim to become a leading global carrier of internet services to business customers.
