The impact of winding down its contract cleaning business saw McBride, which makes dishwasher tablets, washing machine liquid and other cleaning products for supermarkets, today fire a warning about its profits this year.

It reckons first-half trading will be about £2m lower as a result, and "accordingly we expect that the group's full-year performance could be impacted by that amount for the same reason."

The company's shares fell 0.5p to 129.5p.
