Mothercare is to spend £20 million a year on expanding its large-scale Mothercare World stores.
The retailer, which focuses on items for young children, has 257 stores in the UK and 167 overseas franchises.
It said sales grew by 4.7 per cent in the 28 weeks to October 14. Stripping out the effect of new stores, like-for-like sales were 2.2 per cent up on the same period last year.
Mothercare was split off from the Storehouse group, which sold the Bhs chain for £200 million in May.
