Demand for smart TV sets is helping to keep profits on track at Imagination Technologies, the British company which designs graphic processors for smartphones and tablets including the iPhone and iPad.

Sir Hossein Yassaie, the chief executive, credited a slew of product launches, including smart TVs from Sony and LG, and confirmed that Samsung is using Imagination's designs in some of its latest Galaxy devices.

Imagination is not always able to confirm which clients are buying its technology. Apple, in particular, is known for its secrecy.

Sir Hossein warned that the "general macroeconomic uncertainty" was affecting timing of some orders. But the shares rose 7p to 537p on the "robust" trading update.
