Tesco staff receive £92m share bonus

Tesco is to reward its UK employees with nearly £100m worth of free shares. The world’s third largest retailer is to award £92m worth of shares – a record amount - to 193,000 of its employees who have worked at Tesco for more than one year.

The shares are awarded to staff, who will receive a confirmation document in June, under its long-standing Shares in Success scheme. The share award is worth 3.6 per cent of the employee’s salary.

Last year, Tesco awarded £84m worth of shares to more than 190,000 staff through Shares in Success. Tesco employees can invest in three all-employee share schemes: Shares in Success, Save As You Earn and Buy As You Earn.
