The cause of death of the Silicon Valley entrepreneur Dave Goldberg was still undisclosed last night. Mr Goldberg, chief executive of the online research service SurveyMonkey, passed away on Friday night aged just 47.
Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook founder and friend of Mr Goldberg, said he died while on holiday with his wife, Sheryl Sandberg, who is chief operating officer of Facebook.
The couple have two children together.
The news was announced on Facebook by Mr Goldberg’s brother Robert. “It’s with incredible shock and sadness that I’m letting our friends and family know that my amazing brother, Dave Goldberg, beloved husband of Sheryl Sandberg, father of two wonderful children, and son of Paula Goldberg, passed away suddenly last night,” he wrote.
Mr Goldberg married Ms Sandberg in 2004.
Before joining Survey Monkey, Mr Goldberg founded Launch Media, which delivered music online. The firm was taken over by Yahoo in 2001, just after the “dotcom bubble” burst.
