UK wool manufacturers are on a high after its price more than doubled in the past year. Bradford-based Curtis Wools has invested £1m in equipment to keep pace with demand, while Laxtons Specialist Yarns invested close to £1m this year in the first spinning mill to open in the UK for more than 30 years.

AW Hainsworth & Sons, which produces uniforms for the military, including the Grenadier Guards, has just expanded into coffins made of wool. The industry's success follows the Campaign for Wool, the industry group convened by The Prince of Wales.
