Liberty Retail, the company behind the eponymous department store, saw profits more than double to £4.4m for the year to February as its sales rose 5.2 per cent to £65.9m.

The London department store, founded in 1875 and famous for its mock-Tudor façade, is filming a second series of a behind-the-scenes TV show on Channel 4.

Liberty Retail, which includes sales from the department store and its online business, has enjoyed solid growth since private equity firm Blue Gem Capital bought it for £32m in 2010.
