HOTELIERS IN Scarborough are blaming inaccurate weather forecasts for a lack of advance bookings this year.

A spokeswoman for the Yorkshire resort's Hotel Association said yesterday: "This is one of the worst ever years for advance bookings." A spokesman for the Leeds Meteorological Office said: "Occasionally we get it wrong, but I don't think Scarborough is worse than anywhere else."
