Ann McHardy (Personally Speaking, Education +, 12 January) has provoked strong feelings of guilt. I'd always thought that homework was to be done by my children rather than myself. Have I irretrievably harmed their academic and career prospects by not doing the homework? On the other hand, they probably do it better than I can, so is this unfair to other parents?
