Our 4 June review of Kevin Toolis's "Rebel Hearts" referred to a chapter in his book which profiled Patrick Finucane, the solicitor murdered by Loyalists in 1989, and three of his brothers, whom we referred to as "the other three IRA men of varying deadliness". It has been pointed out to us and we accept that Patrick Finucane was never a member of the IRA, nor would it be accurate to describe his family as a "leading Republican family".
We also accept that only one of the "other three" brothers profiled in the book openly discussed his membership of the IRA with the author. We apologise to the family for the considerable distress caused by our review.
