BB King recovering after exhaustion causes blues legend to cancel tour dates

The musician fell ill while on stage in Chicago last week

BB King is now recovering, after he was forced to cancel numerous forthcoming shows due to ill health.

The 88-year-old fell on stage at a show at the House of Blues in Chicago on Friday October 3.

The blues legend cancelled eight gigs after being diagnosed with exhaustion, including performances at the BB King Blues Club in Times Square, New York.

“Mr. King fell ill last night, Oct 3, 2014, during his performance at the House of Blues in Chicago,” a statement on his website read.

“He was immediately evaluated by a doctor and diagnosed with dehydration and suffering from exhaustion whereby causing the eight remaining shows of his current tour to be cancelled.”

An update on the website now says he is now recuperating at home.

“Mr. King is back home and feeling better,” a statement read. “He wants to thank all of his fans and friends for their outpouring of love and concern.”

In April, King issued an apology following an erratic performance in St Louis.

“Simply put, it was a bad night for one of America's living blues legends and Mr King apologises and humbly asks for the understanding of his fans,” King’s spokesperson said in a statement.
