Bryan Ferry has thanked supporters for their well wishes, after his son suffered multiple fractures and head injuries following a car crash.

Merlin, 24, was involved in a three-car collision in a country lane in Shropshire, West Midlands just before Christmas.

According to the Daily Mail, he was trapped in the wreckage of the silver Volvo saloon he was travelling in for almost an hour before he was rescued by fire and ambulance crew.

“On behalf of BF and the family, many thanks for all the kind messages of support for Merlin following his road accident before Christmas,” the Roxy Music star posted on Facebook.

“Merlin has undergone a series of operations and is now stable in hospital, with a long period of recovery ahead of him.”

He went on to thank the emergency crews that might have saved his son’s life, as well as the staff now caring for Merlin at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
