Police have identified the suspect who shot and killed singer Christina Grimmie while she signed autographs after a concert in Orlando, Florida.

Kevin James Loibl, 27, traveled across the state to target her, Orlando Police told reporters on Saturday morning. Loibl is from St. Petersburg, Florida and had been carrying two guns, two loaded magazines and a hunting knife on his person during the shooting.

Loibl’s family left a written statement on the door of their family home on Saturday morning that read: “Deepest sorrow for lost to the family, friends and fans of the very talented, loving Christina Grimmie. No other comments.”

Grimmie, a 22-year-old singer and former contestant on NBC’s The Voice, suffered critical gunshot wounds while signing autographs on Friday evening after her performance. She was quickly transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.

"There is no indication that they knew each other," Orlando Police Chief John Mina told reporters. He said that police will search through the suspect’s phone to identify a motive.

Grimmie’s brother Marcus tackled the suspect stopping him from causing any more harm, Chief Mina said, and during the struggle, the suspect intentionally shot and killed himself.

Earlier on Friday, Grimmie posted a video encouraging her fans to come see her perform in Orlando.

To focus on her career, Grimmie moved to Los Angeles in 2012 after joining Selena Gomez on tour.

"I'm done being surprised by cool things she does,” her brother Marcus told The Philadelphia Inquirer in 2014. “She's very talented and she's worked incredibly hard. It's a dangerous combination.”
