Hugh Jackman cancels one man shows in Turkey after suffering a vocal haemorrhage

The Sydney-born actor arrived in Istanbul on Monday

Hugh Jackman has been forced to cancel his one-man stage show in Turkey after falling ill.

The actor, 46, suffered a haemorrhage on his left vocal chord that has left him unable to project.

The Sydney-born star arrived in Istanbul on Monday. He led a press conference to promote his An Evening With Hugh Jackman, during which he told reporters of his Turkish grandfather.

He later posted an image of himself standing next to a wall signed by fellow Australasian actor Russell Crowe on Instagram.

“I was here before you, Hugh Jackman!” the scribble reads.

Jackman has endured a number of health-related issues of late. In October 2014, his spokesperson announced he had been treated for basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer, for third time in under a year.

According to the National Institutes of Health, basal cell carcinoma is the most commonly suffered form of cancer in the United States, and is usually entirely treatable.

However, if not swiftly seen to, it can cause disfigurement.
