Jeb Bush's 2016 presidential campaign hit a mini road bump when it emerged that an aide had posted offensive tweets.

Ethan Czahor was only just appointed to Bush's Right To Rise campaign team on Monday, but embarrassing tweets were spotted before Czahor could delete them.

He issued the following apology:

Czahor is a technologist based in Santa Monica, California, and co-founded Hipster.com. He was previously chief technology officer of Jessica Alba's company, Honest.

Several of the deleted tweets referred to women as "sluts" and contained outdated stereotypes about gay men.

One tweet from 2009 read: "new study confirms old belief: college art majors are sluts, science majors are also sluts but uglier [sic]".

Another, which Czahor wrote in 2010 said: "when i burp in the gym I feel like it's my way of saying, 'sorry guys, but i'm not gay [sic]'".

In 2011, Czahor posted: "the golds gym in san francisco has a wide selection of free weights, machines and men who undress you with their eyes while you work out [sic]".

In the old tweets, he also made derogatory remarks about Lindsay Lohan a careless joke about drunk driving.

A spokesperson for Bush told BuzzFeed: "Governor Bush believes the comments were inappropriate. They have been deleted at our request. Ethan is a great talent in the tech world and we are very excited to have him on board the Right to Rise PAC."
