Training which proved futile, of course

Jennifer Lawrence’s candour has always been a blessing for the media and a nightmare for her publicists when the actress reveals a bit more than they were perhaps hoping for.

In a recent appearance on The Graham Norton show, the 25-year-old described how she was kept in a “tiny jail” for five hours in a London airport for lying about having a work visa.

To fans, one of her most endearing traits has been her refreshing and unwavering determination to be as real as possible in the public eye, and that includes displaying her humorous side.

Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Lawrence recalled one event while she was still a teenager that forced her team to jump into action.

Lawrence was appearing at a press conference to promote the 2008 film The Burning Plain, where she starred alongside Kim Basinger and Charlize Theron. Basinger was not present at the conference, prompting a journalist to ask about her absence.

“And I just leaned into the microphone, and I said, ‘'You didn't hear? Kim died.’

“There was like a beat where it got translated and then I was ripped off the stage and thrown into media training which was hilarious.”

“Obviously, it didn’t take,” she added. “My publicist told me a week ago to stop telling people that they don’t have to see X-Men.”
