Kanye West is a 'proud product of Toronto', says the city's confused mayor
'He's a proud product of our music industry here'

The mayor of Toronto thinks Kanye West is from Toronto.
Mayor John Tory was talking to reporters shortly after it was confirmed that the rapper will headline the closing ceremony of the Pan Am Games, which are taking place this week at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
Asked if he was a fan of Yeezy's, Tory replied: "I won't say that I spend every single night at home listening to his music," Tory said.
"But you know what, I’m smart enough to know that a lot of people do and I’m smart enough to know that he's a proud product of our music industry here, as are a number of others."
Sadly, he wasn't smart enough to know that Kanye is not from Toronto nor is he even Canadian, having been born and raised in Chicago, a city he talks about a lot in his music.
Chances are he got confused with Toronto's biggest rap export, Drake.
Tory later concede his gaffe to a scrum of reporters.
"I also wish I'd known he wasn’t a Canadian but I didn’t. That’s fine. You can’t know everything."
