Kardashian family call for prayers as Lamar Odom is ‘put on life support’

Khloe Kardashian is reportedly in charge of medical decisions as brothel staff claim Odom had taken cocaine

The Kardashian family are calling for prayers for Lamar Odom, the former NBA player on life support after being discovered unconscious in a brothel.

Odom, the ex-partner of Khloe Kardashian, is reportedly fighting for his life in a Las Vegas hospital. He was found face-down and unconscious by staff at the Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada, on Tuesday.

Kendall Jenner was the first to tweet her support for Odom on Wednesday, followed by her mother Kris Jenner, who is by Odom’s side, and her brother Rob Kardashian. Khloe and Odom married in 2009 and Khloe filed for divorce in 2013. She is understood to have been put in charge of decisions regarding his medical care because a judgement on their divorce has not yet entered court, according to People magazine.

Khloe has not yet commented on his condition. Her sisters Kim Kardashian and Kendall have also flown out to the Sunrise Hospital to be with him.

Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly told a press conference in Nevada that staff members said Odom had been using cocaine on the Saturday and had used up to 10 tabs of sexual performance enhancer supplements over the three-day period.

Richard Hunter, the brothel's media director, said Odom bought tablets of Reload 72-hour Strong, an over-the-counter sexual enhancement drug, sold at the brothel.

“He was unconscious, but breathing,” Sheriff Wehrly told reporters. “He had blood coming from his nose and mouth along with a white substance.“

The department has taken samples of Odom’s blood for testing, although results could take weeks to return.

Chicago Bulls player Mike Brown, who visited the hospital on Wednesday, told the Press Association the situation was “heartbreaking”.

“I didn't actually see him but I hear from the NBA he's stable and on a ventilator. The NBA feels real sorrow, it was a situation with Lamar and the things that he was going through lately in his life. You reach out and help him but it was almost something you could see happening but couldn't prevent. Basically all we can do now is pray for him and hope he bounces back.”

Odom was one of the most dominant high-school basketball players to emerge from Queens, New York. He played 14 seasons in the NBA, winning two championships with the Lakers for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.

He then received the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2010-11. Odom then bounced around to several teams, the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers, where he was drafted him in 1999. He then signed a two year contract with the New York Knicks in 2014, but was cut from the team several months later.
