The New York media world is in mourning after the death of Lisa Colagrossi - a reporter and anchor for the city’s WABC channel who suffered a brain haemorrhage and died while returning from an assignment.
Ms Colagrossi, a fixture of the local media scene and who was dubbed the “ultimate pro” by her station, was a Cleveland native who joined WABC just days after the September 11 attacks. She died on Thursday, her employers said. She was 49.
“Thursday seemed like just another morning, with Lisa Colagrossi doing what she did so well, reporting live from the scene,” WABC said in a tribute to Ms Colagrossi.
“She was an amazing reporter, committed to Eyewitness News. She was dedicated to telling a story with honesty, a working woman, a hockey mom, she was gutsy and fearless.”
Ms Colagrossi’s past stories for the station include investigations about Ebola and the new One World Trade Centre building. She is survived by her husband and two sons.
