Met Gala 2015: Jason Derulo falling over in epic fashion, the event's most talked about moment, wasn't what it seemed

One of the most talked about moments of the event didn't actually happen

Ah, Twitter. It never lets time, truth or opinion get in the way of an amusing story.

Which is why Jason Derulo’s name quickly started trending after a picture of a man falling down the red carpeted stairs at an unknown event first surfaced.

Sure enough, the tumble looked epic enough to be worthy of some attention. But not only did the Caucasian gentleman in the image look nothing like the “Talk Dirty To Me” singer, but it had also been taken in 2011, at an entirely different event – Cannes Film Festival in 2011.

A number of media outlets were fooled by the viral image, leading My Derulo himself – a man whose name can only be uttered in song – to comment on his whereabouts.

“Lmao I'm at rehearsal in LA. Fuq ya'll! Lol,” he eloquently captioned a picture of himself.

Derulo did, of course, suffer a serious neck injury in January 2012 after falling during a rehearsal. Good he was able to see the funny side of the prank.
