Marcus Kowal has said he does not feel any "rage or hatred" towards the alleged drunk driver who killed the MMA fighter's 15-month-old son.

Kowal’s son Liam was being walked in his pram by his 15-year-old aunt in Hawthorne, California on Saturday when he was struck by a driver.

Donna Marie Higgins, 72, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and hit-and-run after she allegedly attempted to flee the scene but was blocked from doing so by witnesses.

Liam was taken to hospital but was pronounced brain dead on Sunday.

Kowal has now spoken of his grief and said he is surprised his reaction to his son’s death has not been more revengeful and hateful.

“I’ve always said if someone takes from me I’ll take back,” he told CBS. “I’m really surprised actually that I don’t feel any rage. I haven’t felt any rage, I don’t feel any hatred.”

Liam’s organs have also been donated and his father said he has been told around eight or nine children are now expected to live because of it.

In a series of social media posts, Kowal has also spoken out on the dangers of drink-driving, telling followers: “Don’t drink and drive, don’t let a friend drink and drive,MMA fighter says his 15-month-old son has saved nine children's lives after donating organs, please”.

A JustGiving page set up to help the family with medical and funeral costs has so far amassed over $122,000.
