The star of VH1’s Real Chance Of Love Ahmad ‘Real’ Givens has died at the age of 33 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

The news was broken by his brother Kamal, also known as Chance, who posted an image on Instagram on Saturday with the words, “By [sic] to my favorite guy in this whole world be in peace we love you forever bro I'll see you one day soon we shall dance again in God's kindom [sic] forever and ever bro words can't describe my pain world pray for me!”

Givens was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer in 2013 but his condition was believed to be improving and he was even posting videos for fans.

Only last month he shared an image on Instagram to mark his birthday on 9 January and thanked fans for their birthday wishes. However, he said in the post that he had not been feeling well recently.

In a statement yesterday VH1 said “Our hearts go out to Real’s brother Chance and their loved ones, we’ll truly miss this member of the VH1 family.”

The reality TV star was best known for being a contestant on the American dating show I Love New York, in which he tried fend off fellow suitors and win the affections of Tiffany Pollard.

Although he did not win, both Ahmad and Kamal were given a spin-off dating show called Real Chance of Love. The series, which ran between 2008 and 2009, featured the brothers both trying to find love in a format similar to Take Me Out, with women vying for a date with them. They also had a 2010 programme called Real & Chance: The Legend Hurts.
