Charlie's Angels star Farrah Fawcett , who has been battling cancer for almost three years, is close to death in a Los Angeles hospital, according to reports.
The 62-year-old former actress was hospitalised on Thursday, according to People magazine.
Celebrity gossip website Radaronline, which broke the news, quoted sources as saying the actress was unconscious.
It also reported that she was surrounded by her loved ones, including husband Ryan O’Neill and son Redmond, who was arrested yesterday morning on suspicion of bringing narcotics into a jail facility.
According to widespread media reports, she is critical but stable.
Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in September 2006.
Meanwhile police have confirmed that the 24-year-old son of O’Neal and Fawcett was arrested on a drug charge, months after he and his father were charged with possession.
Los Angeles sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Redmond O’Neal was arrested on suspicion of bringing narcotics into a jail facility after admitting he was carrying drugs. He is being held on £17,000 bail.
Mr Whitmore said a deputy stopped O’Neal, who was at the jail giving a lift to a friend.
O’Neal was arrested in September with Ryan O’Neal and charged with methamphetamine possession. He was on probation for a previous drug conviction.
