Duke of Edinburgh has hand surgery
The Duke of Edinburgh has had minor surgery to treat a common condition that causes pain, numbness and a burning sensation in the hand and fingers, Buckingham Palace said today.
Philip was admitted as a day patient to an undisclosed hospital yesterday for the procedure on his left hand to cure Carpal tunnel syndrome.
He cancelled a dinner engagement in the City last night and will not travel with the Queen to visit Crewe on Thursday but is expected to visit the Olympic Park in east London on Friday.
