Drake has been honoured with his very own day of the year in Houston, Texas, with 10 June henceforth being known as 'Drake Day'.

The rapper recently complained in his track Pound Cake about the industry trying to 'lil bro' him and dismiss his place among the greatest rappers of his generation, so getting his own dedicated day ought to come to his delight.

According to a statement Drake uploaded to Instagram, Drake Day was proclaimed by mayor of Houston Annise D Parker who presented him with the accolade at the Astros vs Diamondbacks baseball game.

"The City of Houston commends and appreciates Drake for dedicating his time to Houston through his passion and enthusiasm for music and our city," the statement reads, also mentioning his invention of the acronym YOLO as if it was a good thing.

Despite hailing from Toronto, Drake often namechecks Houston in his songs, and is in the city at the moment to celebrate Houston Appreciation Week.

Earlier in the month he posted a new track on Soundcloud entitled '0 to 100/The Catch Up'.
