Victoria Beckham has been named the UK’s top entrepreneur, beating Sir James Dyson and Dame Vivienne Westwood.

The former Spice Girl’s fashion brand Victoria Beckham turned over £30m last year, a rise of 2,900 per cent in the past five years.

The list of Britain’s top 100 entrepreneurs compiled by business magazine Management Today is ranked by turnover growth and job creation using data from Companies House, combined with the entrepreneur’s wealth overall.

Victoria Beckham is thought to be worth £210 million, while her business has seen a 3,233 per cent rise in staff since it began in 2008.

Andrew Saunders, deputy editor at Management Today, said: “She’s got a real business, some design talent and some business nous.

“She gets a lot of stick for being a celeb fashionista but I don’t think that’s fair. She has built something real out of her own celebrity which is quite a contemporary story. She deserves to be celebrated.”

After launching her fashion label in 2008, Victoria Beckham won Designer Brand of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2011.

In the same year, she introduced a lower-priced label Victoria by Victoria Beckham.

In an interview with The Guardian last month, the former pop singer said: “First time around I felt famous, but now I feel successful”.
