Prince William will attend Tuesday's friendly match between England and France at Wembely Stadium, Kensington Palace officials have anounced.

The Duke of Cambridge will be at Wembley in "solidarity to the people of France" in his role as Football Association president.

London Mayor Boris Johnson also plans to attend the event.

Met Police have announced heightened security will be provided "in light of the tragic events in Paris".

It said "extra, highly-visible armed officers" will patrol the stadium.

England captain Wayne Rooney told a press conference he and his teammates had no concerns about playing the game.

"I think the world of football has to stay strong together," he said.

"I'm sure everyone will do that and try to deal with the situation to the best everyone knows how to do."

France's friendly game against Germany in Friday was attacked by suicide bombers, one of whom had tickets to enter the match.

Police suspect the man planned to detonate his suicide bomb vest inside the packed stadium, to trigger a deadly stampede.
