Preaching to the converted?

When the UEFA’s Euro 2016 Championships kick off this year Manic Street Preachers will be shouting to be heard above the roar of the crowd. The band will release the official Wales 2016 song in two months’ time, the Football Association of Wales confirmed.

What’s it called?

“Together Stronger (C'mon Wales)”.

Very patriotic.

It befits the occasion. The track will be released on 20 May, one month before the team heads to France for their first major tournament since 1958.

What do the squad think of their Championships soundtrack?

Wales manager Chris Coleman sang its praises after the team met up with the trio this week to shoot the video. "It was fantastic to be involved with such an iconic Welsh band,” he said. “Manic Street Preachers have been passionate Welsh football supporters and all the lads enjoyed the experience and joined in."

The Manics must have appeared in as many stadiums as the footballers themselves.

Formed in 1986, the band has sold millions of albums over the years, achieved two UK number-one singles and one UK number-one album and was the first Western rock band to play in Cuba.

Are they planning any other new releases?

The song will come out on the same day the band re-issues their 1996 album Everything Must Go on the 20^th anniversary of its original release. Frontman James Dean Bradfield said the LP, which was recorded in the wake of guitarist Richey Edwards' disappearance, represented a “fraught” but “happy” time for the band. He told NME: "We knew that we were making something special and you don't get that feeling much."
