There are many things that tabloid and entertainment sites often struggle to understand, and successful women who choose not to have children usually top the list of baffling concepts.
Zellweger, 47, is well accustomed to navigating questions from publications about how she could be without children and self-fulfilled. This week, the actress answered a question from Extra about whether she is "craving to have a baby" with admirable patience.
“I’ve never really thought like that about anything in my life, really," she explained. "I’ve always been kind of open to whatever may be, curious to see what’s next. I’ve never been that deliberate about my life and the things that I would require in order to be happy.”
In September Kim Cattrall, 60, criticised the stigmatisation of women who do not have children and took umbrage with being described as “childless”. “It’s the ‘less’ that is offensive - childless - it sounds like you’re ‘less’ because you haven’t had a child.”
