Will.i.am thinks that 3D printers will one day print people

The Black Eyed Peas star and producer expounded his views on technology

If you don't think that 3D printers will eventually produce people you're so two thousand and late, according to Will.i.am.

"Eventually 3D printing will print people," the producer, rapper and entrepreneur told Dezeen. "I’m not saying I agree with it, I’m just saying what’s fact based on plausible growth in technology."

"Unfortunately that is the reality, but at the same time it pushes humanity to have to adhere to new responsibilities. So new morals, new laws and new codes are going to have to be implemented."

Will.i.am recently rubbed shoulders with the most influential people in the world at Davos, and is working on Ekocycle, a recycling initiative with Coca-Cola. He is also chief creative officer of 3D Systems, a 3D-printing firm that last year launched a printer that transformed waste plastic into new objects.

"If you can print a liver or a kidney, god dang it, you're going to be able to print a whole freaking person," he told the magazine.

He added: "Now we're getting into a whole new territory. Moses comes down with the 10 commandments and says 'Thou shalt not...'. He didn't say shit about 3D printing."

Will.i.am is not stranger to discussing 3D technology. He recently told the Guardian that "it will revolutionise society".

"In 10 years, everyone will have a 3D printer in their house. Your friend will say: 'Let’s go, hurry up' and you’ll go: 'Wait, my shoes haven’t finished printing yet.'"

Rupert Murdoch is also interested in Will.i.am's ideas. The two met last year and the media mogul tweeted his praises.
