In true rapper style, Xzibit made sure his wedding night was one he would always remember – presumably with a mug shot memento to prove it.

The American hip-hop artist, real name Alvin Nathaniel Joiner, was arrested in California after driving back from his nuptials with long-term partner Krista Joiner on Saturday.

According to TMZ, the couple married at a venue near Laguna Beach in California, before they headed with their party to a reception at St. Regis Monarch Beach.

On leaving the reception, the Pimp My Ride presenter was pulled over by police for allegedly speeding and driving under the influence. He was then transported to and held at a nearby police station.

“The officer contacted the driver and smelled alcohol,” Captain Jason Kravetz of the LAPD told the Mail Online: “This started a driving under the influence investigation which ended with the arrest of [Xzibit].”

Xzibit wrote a heartfelt message about his big day on Instagram, captioning an image of him and his new wife embracing after exchanging vows.

“It was nothing short of amazing,” he wrote. “We were surrounded by friends and family and had an outstanding ceremony.”

“There was a time I thought I would NEVER get married,” he continued. “I thought that being single was the only way for me, not knowing that I was giving up more of myself to people who didn't care about me or love me unconditionally. I had to do a LOT of growing up and over time came the maturity I needed to be able to make a commitment stronger than anything that I have done in my life outside of being a father to my two beautiful sons. Yesterday, I made my family complete.”

He made no such heartfelt mention of the arrest, however.
