Smog danger

South-east England faces its third smog of the month today. A combination of traffic fumes, a lot of sunshine and still, high-pressure air was trapping pollution and producing large quantities of ozone. At Harwell, Oxfordshire, ozone concentration reached 95 parts per billion yesterday afternoon: above 90, air quality is classified as poor. A monitoring station in Suffolk was registering over 80.
