Tevez risks City wrath with return to Argentina

Carlos Tevez must return to Manchester City this morning, despite arriving in Buenos Aires on a visit – unsanctioned by City – yesterday, to avoid another fine for breach of contract. The striker was granted yesterday off by the club, but is due in for training at 10.30 this morning. Despite this, he landed in the Argentinian capital yesterday, saying he was home "to relax for a few days". It is believed that he was twice refused permission by the club to return home. Should Tevez fail to attend, he will be liable for a two-week fine. This would take his total fines this season to close to £1m. MORE

Arrest after Spurs spying accusation

A man was arrested yesterday after claims that Tottenham Hotspur used private investigators to spy on board members of the Olympic Park Legacy Company, which decided the future of the Olympic Stadium. The claim was made by the OPLC chair. MORE

Warner hopeful for 2017 Athletics bid

Ed Warner, chairman of UK Athletics, is hopeful of beating Doha to the 2017 World Athletics Championship. "Our stars are aligned," he said, as the body was given a 99-year lease to stage athletics at the Olympic Stadium. MORE

Rivals pay tribute to legend Frazier

George Foreman and Muhammad Ali both paid tribute to Joe Frazier, the former world heavyweight champion who has died from cancer aged 67. Ali, who fought Frazier three times, said "the world has lost a great champion". Foreman called Frazier a "dear friend". MORE

Capello to miss son's wedding Fabio

Capello will miss the wedding of his younger son Pierfilippo on Saturday, because of England's friendly against Spain. The match was initially due to be on Friday but it will now clash with the wedding in Milan. "It is not a problem, absolutely not," Pierfilippo told i. "We will all toast him." MORE

Fifa turns down FA poppy request

England will not be allowed to wear poppies on their shirts for Saturday's friendly against Spain after Fifa rejected a second request from the Football Association. Fifa issued a "final statement" last night, saying the gesture could risk "jeopardising the neutrality of football". MORE

Warne comes back for T20 Big Bash

Shane Warne will come out of retirement to play for the Melbourne Stars in the inaugural Big Bash Twenty20 league, his first cricket in Australia since 2007. "I'm fitter than I have ever been," said the 42-year-old. "I had a few offers but the MCG has been my backyard for 20 years." MORE

Roger Federer yesterday warned players against strike action over their crowded calendar. "The season is too long," said the president of the player council at the Association of Tennis Professionals. "Clearly we need to make changes, but we don't need to make them publicly." MORE
