Champion beaten
In the eighth round of the British Chess Championships in Dundee, the holder, Julian Hodgson, was beaten by Keith Arkell. With three rounds to play, the lead is shared by Michael Hennigan and Christopher Ward on 6 1/2 points, with Keith Arkell, John Emms and Dharshan Kumaran on 6.
